Sustainability meets Spectacular
My client is a national leader in sustainable manufacturing. Their products are carpets, and many of their print projects show carpet colors and patterns. These brochures are important sales tools. They must be attractive and accurate representations.
The client has a top to bottom enthusiastic commitment to sustainable production. They lead the industry in this regard and are frequently mentioned in national media as an example of what can be achieved in green manufacturing. Print production must meet the same high standards for sustainability.
Our first point of introduction was Geographics capability to offer Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody certification for print. FSC is a program to assure that our paper is made from forests managed for sustainability. Geographics was one of the first 4 printers in Georgia to be certified as a C-O-C printer.
The client made a commitment to convert sales brochures to 100% post consumer recycled fiber paper. The paper would also be uncoated. However, their experience printing this stock with conventional inks at another printer had been disappointing.
I knew Geographics could deliver the bright color and crisp halftones that would make the carpet images pop. They gave us an opportunity to show the difference; and that first job made us all believers. On that soft absorbent sheet we got rich solids, clean shadows and no dry back. What we saw at the color okay was exactly what we packed for shipment.
Today the client specifies UV print for all their carpet brochures. They get the sales presentation they need; an environmentally friendly process; and brochures with excellent durability- a home run solution.
I am now working with the client to provide color corrected images so that brochures can be created more efficiently. Geographics offers substantial expertise in color retouching for print. We color correct the carpet images for the client’s image bank so photos will be easy to use across many projects.
